![]() ![]() What is great about this song is that following its release, anybody who has really been in love can draw a parallel to their own experience which magnified the success of the song on a global scale. The song is the love theme of the movie, for which the melody was originally composed by the late Michael Kamen and an instrumental version of it is used in the movie (in the scene when Lady Marianne leaves the Forest from Robin). The song is written and sung in the first person, implying that Robin Hood is singing it to Lady Marianne expressing his feelings towards her, in an attempt to win her back as well as the power and motivation his love for her brings to him in order to fight and free her from evil. This song actually does not have a divine meaning to it, as Bryan Adams is an atheist and what a lot of people forget nowadays is that the song was written for the 1991 movie Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves with Kevin Costner, rather than being a song which Adams wrote relating to his own beliefs.
